Good morning!
The fun continues in the mountains today, with an exciting mix of rain, sleet and snow for your uncrowded riding pleasure. On the bright side, the bulk of the warm precipitation will miss the ski areas, mostly pounding the poor Olympic Peninsula.
At Meadows this morning, delicious sno-cone sleet is falling out of the sky. The only thing we need is a little haupia syrup to top off a cupful of Mother Nature’s finest. At the top of MHX, it’s snow. I’m all for skiing in this kind of weather. Sure, it doesn’t even come close to a super-stormy powder day (my favorite), but it’s fun and relaxing.
Tomorrow looks pretty dry at the ski areas, and snow returns sometime Tuesday. Models aren’t super-specific yet for later next week, but it looks like snow, perhaps in copious amounts.
In the wind picture, there are a couple of massive storms brewing at the coast. I’m sure local speed sailors are chomping at the bit and drooling on their computer screens at the numbers. A storm tomorrow brings sustained winds in the 40+ knot range, and another storm tomorrow night packs 50+ knots.
Depending on the frontal timing, Seattle sailors should catch southerlies Monday, and possibly Tuesday. As for those of us in the Gorge, we’re just going to have to watch Monday evening for eastern desert winds and Tuesday morning for easterlies at Stevenson.
Have a great day today!
