Temira wants a new bike forecast

Good morning everyone!

Once in a while I get to use the wind forecast for personal reasons. This is one of those days. I am shopping for a new-used road bike. I ride a 56cm or so, and I'm looking for a full-carbon (or Ti), ultegra-or-better, complete with good wheels, rocket ship of a road bike. If you have a bike along these lines and you'd like to part with it, please let me know!

(hah... I know many of you just skim the forecast, but that boldface got your attention, right?)

Gorge westerlies continue today as a weak front crosses the Northwest, pushing clouds into the western Gorge and allowing the sun to shine on the desert. The early morning gradient was .10 and winds were in the upper teens at dawn. As high clouds clear and the desert warms up, winds will climb. Watch for 24-27 from Hood River all the way out to Arlington today. Strongest winds will be in the corridor, at Mosier, and at Doug’s.

Tomorrow looks windy tool. With less marine deck support, winds shift back to the corridor. We’ll see 16-19 early tomorrow. As the day goes on, high pressure builds at the coast, sending Gorge winds into the 24-27 range by early afternoon.

Westerlies continue Friday, Saturday and Sunday, as a series of weak systems plough into the Northwest. Friday afternoon and Sunday are looking like the windiest days at this point.

If you’re tired of windsurfing and kiting, you can go ride your mountain bike. I have confirmation that Bottle Prarie and 8-mile are now cleared of snow and blowdown. As I mentioned yesterday, Lewis River is also a go. If anyone has information about Falls Creek, please let me know!

Coming up tomorrow we have the Hood River Slider Jam. Come over to IPS Skate Shop at 3pm to watch kick flips, heel flips and Olly Norths by the best local skaters! This is a pretty big deal, with big-name sponsors, and is part of a 3-day event involving skating, kiting, and snowboarding (yes, snow, at the sand bar). Also tomorrow is the Hood River Mini-tri… 5:45 at the Event Site, where you too can battle the mighty Columbia, ride your bike in the blustery Gorge winds, and run, run, run.

Whatever you do today, have an awesome day!

Temira,
Good job, par usual.
Sorry, no road bike here.
A mention tomorrow about our first race of the BW/Naish SUP Race Series Thursday at the BW ES center at 6:30 would be nice. Robby (as in Naish), Dave Kalama and Michi Schweiger are all in the race! Details on the BW website.
Have a great one.
Steve.
