Good morning Gorge sports fanatics!

It’s Monday, and that means it’s the start of another windy week in the Gorge. The low pressure system that’s been giving us so much trouble for the last week makes its way eastward over the next couple days, allowing a more normal gorge setup to develop.

Today started off with a .10 gradient and upper teen wind in the Corridor. Marine clouds are stacked up in the hole, a weather system is crossing the state, and whitecaps are gracing the river. It’s not going to take long before winds climb into the 21-24 range at the Hatch. By afternoon, we’ll have 22-25 from Hood River out to Arlington. There is still a slight chance of convection and thunderstorms, meaning winds are going to be a bit gusty.

This weather system pushes eastward tomorrow, ushering in true westerly upper flow. Weak high pressure off the coast will drive winds in the 17-20 range through the corridor, possibly a bit further east, depending on marine deck penetration.

West flow continues on Wednesday for another round of 23-26 through the corridor.

If you still have energy tonight after kiting or windsurfing today, there are a couple of cool activities going on. Pair your wind-driven upper body workout with the hammerhead bike ride. Meet at Mountain View Cycles at 5pm for a heart-pounding, quad-burning, soul-destroying monster of a ride.

For something mellower, meet at Hood River’s Wilson Park at 6pm for free Tai Chi.

And whatever you do today, have an awesome day!
