Good morning gorge sports fanatics and happy memorial day weekend!

Windsurfers and kiters, you’ve been waiting for today. The morning gradient was a massive .17, giving us mid twenties dawn patrol. With a marine layer in Portland and sunshine in the desert, winds will increase into the 28-32 range from Hood River to Mosier this morning and Hood River out to Doug’s this afternoon.

It’s looking like we’ll see a little less marine layer tomorrow, giving us 15-18 dawn patrol and 22-26 afternoon. At this point, Tuesday’s looking like a full-on 30-plus corridor day!

With a rain-free weekend, mountain trails are all in excellent shape. The mud puddles are gone, and the dust is packed down. Since it’s been a zoo at Post Canyon, I’m going to point you to the other open trails: Nestor Peak, Syncline, Hospital Hill, Oak Ridge and Dog River.

And don’t forget, next Saturday is the first work party on the new Whoopdie trail. If you’ve been missing having a second trail right near town, and I know I have, clear your calendar for the Whoopdie work party next Saturday.

Road bikers, there’s a cool ride going on today. Major Creek Cellars hosts 3 rides- 7 miles, 18 miles and 30 miles -  through the upper Valley today. Meet at the Gorge White House, 2265 Highway 35, this morning at 10am.

Boaters, your numbers: The Hood’s at 5.5 feet, the White Salmon’s at 5 feet, the Little White’s at 820 cfs, and the Wind River’s at 850 cfs.

Whatever you do today, have an awesome day!
