Morning everyone!
First, an event. The annual Columbia Area Mountain Bike Advocates (CAMBA) meeting is tonight at Double Mountain. Please come and talk about trails, access, and drink beer!
Next, Mountain View is having a women's road riding clinic (riding in a group) tonight. Meet at Panorama Point at 5:30. I believe it's $15.
I was looking out my window this morning at the glassy Columbia River. The sun is shining. The trees aren’t moving. Aaaaaaaaaaargh - I’M GOING COASTAL!!!
Windsurfers and kiters, Gorge westerlies are sleeping, so if you want wind, go coastal. The forecast for the north and central coast is 25 knots. There’s a 4-6 foot swell running, so there are going to some waves for your lip-bashing fun. Coast northerlies continue tomorrow, with 25 knots at the north and central, and 35 plus at Pistol River.
High pressure off the coast brings back gorge westerlies tomorrow. Light westerlies start off the day tomorrow, but by mid-afternoon, we’ll see 17-21 from Stevenson to Hood River. By late evening tomorrow, gorge winds will be in the 22-25 range. Try Rowena for the most consistent wind.
So far, we’re looking at light, but sailable, westerlies in the Gorge for the holiday weekend. Before you jump in the water on Saturday, head to Doug’s Beach for a CGWA cleanup party. That’s 9 in the morning til twelve. This is a good chance for you to give back to your beach. Seriously... get out there and help make your sandy paradise a better place to spend your windy days.
And hey, skiers, riders and freeheelers, this is the last weekend of winter pricing at Timberline. Get your turns in before the rates go up Tuesday. Remember, T-line is the best backcountry access on Hood!
Boaters, the Hood’s at 5.6 feet, the White Salmon’s at 5.9 feet, the Little White’s at 945 cfs and the Wind River’s at 1020 cfs.
All right. I'm headed out for a bike ride now. Have a great day!
