Good morning everyone! Happy sunny middle of May. It's almost like summer outside this morning...
First things first: today is National Bike to Work Day. That’s right, put down your car keys and put on your helmet. It’s a beautiful day, and you have no reason to not ride your bike. If you’ve been commuting all week, come get your reward for taking part in Hood River Bike to Work Week. This morning, from 7:30 to 9, you can get coffee and donuts at the 2nd and State Waterfall in Hood River. Not only will there be food, there will be cool prizes from Da Kine and a raffle for a set of panniers! Remember, no bike, no donuts. Also, today would be a great day to call the Port of Hood River and let them know how much it sucks that you can't commute by bike from Hood River to White Salmon or vice-versa.
Windsurfers and kiters, we have a beautiful day... of sunshine ahead. High pressure filled in over the Northwest last night, turning the choppy river to glass. If you’ve got a ski boat, now’s the time to break it out. As a matter of fact, break out the boat for the next few days. It’s going to stay pretty darn glassy through the weekend.
Instead of windsurfing and kiting, we have windsurfing and kiting events this weekend. On Saturday, there’s a work party at the Hatchery. That’s 9am, hosted by the Columbia Gorge Windsurfing Association. On Sunday, there’s a swap meet at Windance.
Now, here’s something really cool going on tomorrow. No, seriously, this is just plain rad. It’s the Annual Open House at The Dalles Rifle and Pistol Club. Show up from 10-2. They’ll supply the guns, ammo, bows and arrows, along with refreshments, and you supply the enthusiasm and trigger finger.
I sure hope they aren't supplying beer along with all that ammo.
Have a great day today!
