May 11 Wind/Snow/Rain forecast

Good morning everyone! I was going to write a great introduction to the forecast, but it's really early and I can't think of anything amusing. That's the great part about writing most of the forecast the night before. It ends up coherent that way. Unlike this intro.

First, the wind forecast. A weak front is crossing the Northwest this morning, We’ll see 15-18 in the central gorge today, but the strongest wind will be out east. As the desert heats up and the front passes around midday, winds will climb. I’ll say 26-30  at the Wall and Arlington this afternoon, possibly at Doug’s as well. An upper level low off BC will make it gusty, but don’t be mad at the low. We're not going to see much precipitation out of this system, so rain really shouldn't be a problem today. The main rain will be tomorrow and Wednesday.

That upper level low kicks Gorge winds into high gear tomorrow as it crosses Washington State and high pressure fills in behind. We’ll start of with 20ish throughout the Gorge in the morning, followed by 32-35 out east in the afternoon.

Get the wind today and tomorrow, because Wednesday isn’t looking windy , and it's looking very wet, at this point. If I had to pick one day for windsurfing or kiting, I’d pick tomorrow.

Now... on to the snow. Skibowl’s closed and Meadow is closed, but T-line and the backcountry are still open. Snow levels drop to 4000 feet tonight and stay around 5000 feet tomorrow. With half an inch of precip expected both days, we’re looking at up to a foot of new snow total. Sweet.

With all this rain falling out of the sky, you boaters know where the river levels are going. That’s right... they’re going up again!

So, whatever you do today, have an awesome time at it!
