5.3 Forecast

First off, today is the last day of skiing at Meadows this season. If you’re trying to reach a magic number of days on the hill, today is your last chance to access the lift serve at Meadows. After this, you’re at Skibowl, Timberline, or you’re skinning and boot-packing it up the hill. It is snowing up there this morning, and the forecast is for a  few inches of snow today. It doesn’t much matter… last day of the season… you should be there!

Your choices are limited today. With low pressure of the Cali coast, Gorge winds start off light. A shortwave swings across the state mid-afternoon, driving some gusty westelies late in the day. We’ll see 15-18 in the central Gorge and 17-21 in the eastern Gorge. The wind we get is going to be quite southerly, so expect gusty conditions.

A very strong low pressure system off the coast Monday keeps Gorge winds light. At this point, Tuesday looks light as well. It’s a good week to make committed plans to a non-wind activity!

After all the rain yesterday, mountain bike trails are in sad shape. Syncline is your best choice today. Heed the muddy cries of Post and Hospital and let them drain today.

Boaters, you’ve got a big rainstorm coming, so the levels will likely take a big jump on Tuesday.  Today, the Hood’s at 1770cfs, the White Salmon’s at 3.58 feet and the Little White’s at 727 cfs.
