All right. I know. It's that time of year when I have to do a forecast almost daily to keep you guys playing hard.
Since that's the case...
I couldn't resist quoting NOAA for Sunday:
OROGRAPHICALLY DRIVEN RAINFALL OVER
THE COAST RANGE AND CASCADES COULD REACH AROUND TWO INCHES DURING THE
DAY SUNDAY. UNFORTUNATELY IT WILL NOT BE A DAY FOR OUTDOOR EASTER EGG
HUNTS...SORRY KIDS.
What this means to you is that we're probably going to see rain at your favorite ski area on Sunday. If, by some miracle, the snow level stays low enough for snow at Mt. Hood Meadows, it's going to be wet and heavy. I'm actually okay with that, if you are. I'd much prefer 8-12" of very heavy snow to 2" of rain falling on the slopes. Maybe if we all vote for snow, the weather gods will fulfill our wishes.
Snow levels drop on Monday, but so do precipitation amounts. Depending on what happens Sunday, Monday could be fantastic for skiing. We should get another 4-6" of decent snow Sunday night into Monday, making for a lovely spring powder day. Please cross your fingers, as I'm not ready for powder season to end!
Windsurfers and kiteboarders, the westerly flow continues today as a weak warm front spreads over the area. This isn't going to be anything to write home about, but you will find 18-22 through most of the Gorge. Windspeeds jump a level tomorrow as a strong cold front passes over the Northwest. Once again, let me point out that frontal passages are a real pain to predict, and this one is taking its time getting here. Most likely we'll see 23-27 out in the desert in the late afternoon.
Better wind looks possible on Monday as a cold upper low slides across the Gorge. Late afternoon (hopefully before dark) brings 27-31 at far-east windsurfing beaches. Monday also looks like a good ski day, so prepare for a daily double.
In the far future, we have decent skiing on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Have an awesome weekend, everyone!
