Given the number of kites and windsurfers I've seen in the last couple of weeks, it seems you people have decided it's river season. So, I'll do my best to give you a forecast for the wind as well as for snow.
But first, we really should talk about Spring. 70 degrees tomorrow and Monday. Wow. What can I say? It's time to break out the bikini, sunscreen and a book. It's also time to break out the shovel and dig in the garden, take your mountain bike off the wall (oh... you mountain bikers never quit. I've seen you at Syncline all winter!), shake out your rope and harness and count your quickdraws, and just generally prepare to play outdoors without your skis and snowboards. That is, unless you have skins, shovel and beacon, in which case you need to prepare for backcountry skiing.
How do we ever find the time to play so hard?
If you've been waiting for warm weather to windsurf, you'll get your chance tomorrow. High pressure building over the Northwest, combined with cold temps overnight in the desert, will drive east winds on Sunday. I think we'll see 30ish in Stevenson and 35ish at Rooster Rock. 70 degree highs on Sunday give you no excuse to not windsurf.
That is, unless you are wandering through the backcountry with me and my friend Glen from Portland.
Speaking of the mountains, we're looking at three days of freeze/thaw cycle coming up, so we should end up with some really nice corn snow by Monday. Enjoy! By the middle of next week, we'll most likely see some more powder. Crazy weather!
Have a great day everyone!
