Good morning everyone!
The wacky winter weather continues. As of 7am, it was 48 in Hood River, 50 at the top of Mt. Hood Express (at Meadows) and 33 at 7000' at Timberline. Basically, we have an inversion layer, once again. This could be bad news, except we aren't going to get much precipitation today. I don't think it will be a bad day on the mountain, once the winds stop blowing.
It's going to be better later in the week, however. Sunny skies... Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah...
High pressure sets up off the coast tomorrow, bringing us warm (for winter) and dry weather. I've had several people ask if we'll get an evil inversion for the week, but I don't think it will happen, at least not through Tuesday. With high pressure off the coast and lower pressure in the desert, low-level flow will be onshore, clearing out the Gorge Muck (also known as "the thing that lives in the Gorge"... it can't survive in west winds).
It looks like we'll have above-freezing temperatures on the mountain (and sunshine) every day, setting us up for wintertime spring skiing.
I think we'll also see enough wind for kiteboarding tomorrow and Tuesday. We'll also see enough wind out east for kiteboarding and windsurfing today. Think Arlington, mid twenties. If you are planning on going in the Columbia, be prepared for unmarked obstacles. =)
If you're a telemark skier, come to Ski Bowl on Tuesday night for Tele Tuesday. $10 demos and a grueling uphill/downhill race provide Tuesday night fun!
Otherwise.... Have a great day!
