1/2 Wind and Snow forecast

Good morning everyone!

I've not had a chance to fetch my coffee from the microwave or to turn on NPR, so I'm not very with it.

Windsurfers... Pressure gradients are insane right now. PDX-DLS is .20. Seriously. DLS-Pasco is .08. North Bend-Pasco is .48. I'm going to watch the Hatchery... only problem is that there's a ton of debris in the water right now from yesterday's record-setting rain. Over 2 inches in HR and, as I said, 6 inches of water-equivalent on the hill. If you go in the river today, please be careful!

Conditions on the mountain are... questionable. Six inches of water equivalent made for 15 inches of new snow in the last 24 hours. That's very, very heavy snow. I'm not going to try and do the math of what a cubic foot would weigh right now. Suffice it to say that it will not be champagne powder on the hill today.
.
The good news is that it's snowing up there now and 22 degrees. NOAA is forecasting 4-8 inches during the day today. The best part is that winds will drop this afternoon. I'm thinking the night skiing could be great today.

In addition, Highway 26 is pretty much closed between Portland and Meadows. There's a detour in place, but it's reported to be a nasty, windy, chains-required mess of road.

Mountain conditions look pretty mellow over the weekend. Light to moderate winds on Saturday and Sunday, combined with a few snow showers, will make for a fun time for the weekend warriors.

Whatever you do today, do it in style! Have fun!
