12/10 forecast for Friday

Hello sailors,

I'm sure everyone's heard of the potential for snow in the Gorge overnight Friday.

I'm here to tell you about wind in the Gorge late Friday.  You know the incoming system is going to take us from relatively warm weather to potentially snowy weather. That's a significant gradient, and will bring significant winds to the eastern Gorge. There's a distinct possibility that the wind won't hit until after dark, and that would be a shame, because I'm expecting 35+ from Arlington to the Idaho border (not that you can sail at the border, but I like the way that sounds). The westerlies will probably continue into Saturday, but it will probably be snowing at river level.

If it snows in town, we'll be sledding on 7th Street.

Speaking of snow, NOAA is calling for 1-3 feet in the Cascades on Friday night, and that means there's a possibility the mountain will finally open. Next best chance of snow will be Wednesday into Thursday, so go ski if they open!

Have a great day!

Temira
