Hi everyone!
Hi everyone!
I heard yesterday that iWindsurf has stopped forecasting for the season. I don't blame those guys. It's tough forecasting this time of year, and nobody even goes kiting or windsurfing, right? Right....
So, welcome to those of you who just joined the fun here. Here are the rules: I'll post a forecast most days. If I haven't done so by 9:30am, I'm not going to. If there's no forecast, there's either no wind, no wind coming, or it's obviously nuclear and I couldn't spare 20 minutes to write a forecast.
One other thing: if you need access to a wind sensor network, try WindontheWater.com. The beta features allow you to receive wind pages on your phone. And guess what? It's all FREE!
Anyway....
Today sees the passage of a couple of very weak fronts over the Gorge. What we're waiting on, though, is a strong upper level low's passage across the Cascades. Hopefully this will happen before dark. In the meantime, it's strong enough for kiting near Doug's, and should stay that way with a .09 gradient to start the day.
Gradients increase as the day goes on, giving 21-24 during the morning. This afternoon brings 22-26, possibly 24-28 in the far east. Upper flow will be westerly, suggesting Doug's, Maryhill and Arlington for least gusty conditions. We could even see decent winds in the corridor, if the low clouds stay west of us.
Tomorrow looks strange, as upper flow switches to southeasterly. If we have clouds, they'll be coming from the east... weird.
Saturday looks like 21-24 east winds at Rooster.
Have a great day!
