Hi Everyone,
First, a bit shoutout to the firefighters who kept my house from burning down yesterday. The fire, for those of you who don't know, was stopped 8 feet from my back door. Thanks, Diedrick and Roland too, if you were there. I owe you guys cookies.
Second, some chastising. Port of Hood River, you should be ashamed. After closing the southbound lane of the bridge during the fire, trapping everyone in Washington, the Port reopened the HR bridge around 7pm. This caused a backup all the way across the bridge to the stoplight. Instead of waving people through, THE PORT CHARGED EVERYONE. That's right. They caused a miserable 25 minute backup, and then charged everyone when they reached the toll booth. Actually, they caused a 25 minute backup by a) first closing the lane, and b) slowing everyone down by taking their money.
I'm hoping that when Arthur Babitz is mayor of Hood River, he'll be able to secure a federal earmark for a toll-free bridge to Bingen.
Now... on to the wind. Today looks light and variable, except at the coast where it's 20-25 in the north and 25 at Florence. Swell is 6 feet dropping to 5.
Tomorrow looks like 22-26 easterlies. Monday looks like 20-24 easterlies.
I have to go ride my bike now, before it gets hot.
Have a nice day!
Temira
p.s. Temira endorses Arthur Babitz for mayor.
