Hi everyone!
This forecast is starting to sound like a political speech. First I say east, then I say west, then I say east. Then I get on the Bridge to Nowhere and drive to chase the wind...
East today. Gradients aren't all that strong, with .09 from Portland to The Dalles. That will be enough for 20-25 this morning. By afternoon, a trough drops into BC, equalizing gradients across the Gorge.
Tomorrow starts off with another wakeboarding session with Cathy Carter, Tom Stevenson, Dan Bubb and others. Midday brings 17-20 or so for kiters and slalom sailors. By evening, we'll see 21-25.
Saturday may start out with light westerlies, but gradients will switch back to easterly by the afternoon.
If you really need windsurfing and kiteboarding, head to the coast. Please do not forget to stop at Uwajimaya to bring back Melona bars (melon flavored) for your beloved forecaster. You can pick up dry ice at Zupan's for keeping the cool in Maui Meyer's Manapua and Lau Lau. Oops. Got distracted. Coast: Friday will be 15-20 knots with 6 feet. Kiting delight. Saturday looks like 20-25 from the north coast down to Florence with a 7 foot swell.
Ms. Ruthford at NOAA is calling for decent east winds on Sunday and Monday, as the thermal trough parks in Portland and desert temps drop overnight.
Hey... where's my coffee? And who's calling me at 8am?
Have a great day!
p.s. Temira endorses Arthur Babitz for mayor of Hood River.
