Monday forecast and Arthur for Mayor

Hi Everyone!

First: Very important news. Arthur Babitz, Hood River city councillor, good guy, and windsurfer, has a birthday party Wednesday at Double Mountain!!! Oh... and he's running for Mayor as well (there will be meet-and-greet at the party too). I'm throwing my support behind him. If you don't trust me, trust fellow Councilor, Ann Frodel: "I have worked closely with Arthur Babitz in the last two years that he has been on Council. I believe he would make a very good Mayor. Arthur has been a consensus building agent on Council, he has worked diligently to help the City out of our inherited budget crisis and has been an un-wavering (Waterfont) park supporter, all in the past two years!"

And if you aren't into politics, just go to the party because it's Arthur's birthday and he's on this list! Plus... there will be cool people there. =) (I have to work)

Oh yippee... easterlies! If you want wind play, go early for 20-25 at best. The thermal trough shift eastward today, allowing the north pacific high (yes, finally, finally, finally, it's hanging around!) to assert itself. We probably won't see westerlies until tomorrow, but the proper, temira-lital-wagonfeld sanctioned gorge setup will be in place by midnight.

That doesn't mean we'll see nuclear dawn patrol on Tuesday, but we'll see good, solid, fairly steady west winds. Here's the equation: North Pacific High plus thermal low in desert plus low pressure over the Rockies equals a-squared plus b-squared equals c-squared equals lots of wind in the Corridor. By early afternoon, we'll see 24-28 (probably towards the upper end of the range, maybe even as much as 30, but that's unlikely) at the Hatch. Rowena and Doug's will happen later, but best winds will be in the corridor in the early afternoon. Think 12:00-4:00 or so.

Wednesday might hold some early westerlies, but most likely winds will be light. The long range forecast suggests a windy weekend. Cross your fingers.

And hey, cross your fingers for some rain as well. Those mountain bike trails are dusty, dusty, dusty.

Ok... gotta work. Have a great day!
