Hello sailors,
You guys know I hate to do the forecast the night before, but I don't have much of a choice. It's already past 11, and I have to be in Mosier at 8am tomorrow. Since I can't function on less than 8 hours of sleep, I'm sending you something (better than nothing?) now.
Today sees rain showers dwindle, so you have no excuse for couch-lounging indoors. Mountain biking tops the list today. First, the Dirty Disco Divas are riding Syncline. Sorry guys, this is gals only. Meet at the China Gorge park-n-ride at 9am for a lap around the lesser known syncline trails with Ms. Jennifer Wilson. Just a heads up: next Thursday is the last Dirty Divas ride of the season, and it’s a good one. Lewis River is the plan, so mark your calendars and take the day off.
This evening is the weekly Post-N-Pint ride. Meet the Dirty Fingers Bike Repair crew at 10 speed coffee at 5 pm for a lap around Mitchell Ridge followed by a Pint of deliciousness at 10 speed.
(Seriously, though. The biking is bound to be excellent, especially in the upper elevations, after all this rain. I'm almost hoping the wind doesn't pick up so I can go get muddy!)
Mountain biking may really be the call today, as it’s another hedging wind forecast. A strong upper level low crosses to the north today, upping eastern Gorge gradients in the afternoon. Models suggest 22-26 until mid afternoon, when we may see 26-30. I’m not going to guarantee anything, but I will say that it’s likelier than Monday, when thunderstorms destroyed all our hopes. This is going to be a way-out-east event as best I can tell. Think Arlington and Threemile. If the models hold - 60-70% chance - it will be windy. Gusty, but windy.
Next best chance of sailable wind looks like late Sunday afternoon into Monday. *sigh*
Paddlers, rivers are up today after the rain: the Klickitat is at 4.31 feet. The White Salmon’s at 2.24 feet. The Little White is at 347 cfs and the wind River is at 247 cfs.
Ok. I know that's pretty lame, but there's not much else I can do. I'm so tired... Maybe you should kill the messenger. All these no-wind/bad wind forecasts are slowly killing her already.
Have a great day!
