Dorothy's strange weather

Hello Sailors,

This is bizarre. Marine clouds made their way far out east this morning, giving a picture-perfect setup for Gorge winds. Too bad pictures lie! Gorge winds take a break today as high pressure holds from Astoria out to Pendleton.

Tomorrow, though, looks much better. Too bad for me, as I have to work all day. Actually, tomorrow looks like the only windy day this week, so all of you should hit the water.

(I am now scheming about how I can go into Abruzzo and do all my prep this afternoon)

Morning wind won't impress anyone (10-15), but an approaching trough changes the picture in the afternoon. With temperatures hot in the desert and an afternoon marine push cooling Portland, Gorge winds pick up. Call it 21-24 by noon and 26-30 late afternoon from Stevenson to Doug's. This is another one of those frontal things, meaning we'll see a couple of hours of wind at the Hatch followed by stronger winds at Stevenson and Doug's.

High pressure rebuilds Wednesday, bringing another heat wave to the Gorge.

Tomorrow night is the peak of the Perseid meteor shower. If you can remember to get up around 2am and wander down to Rowena crest, you'll be treated to a lovely show!

Well... my coffee is awaiting me. Have a great day!

Temira
