Good morning sailors!
This is my first undercover forecast. Yes, I am under the covers still, halfway, anyway. I am hoping that one of you, upon receiving this, will bring me coffee in bed. Breakfast would be good as well, even though I'm not that hungry yet.
I can see from the window of my bedroom that the marine deck is past Hood River again. Given NOAA's forecast discussions today, I'm not expecting the clouds to back off until late, if at all. So... strongest, steadiest winds will again be east of the corridor, in the vitamin-d producing sunny locations.
It does look like weak high pressure will develop near Portland this afternoon, allowing gorge winds to pick up late. We'll see 15-19 until this afternoon, when Mother Nature gets bored and gives the Gorge a swift kick in the butt. With that urging , winds climb into the 22-26 range east of the final cloud line.
Sail today, because we're probably looking at a Monday/Tuesday shutoff, followed by Wednesday wind, followed by a heat wave at the end of the week.
If you want a good laugh this evening, head down to the Hook at 5:30 for the King of The Hook longboard freestyle contest. This is all about silliness, not skill.
Ok. I'll just be sitting here waiting for my coffee delivery.
Have a great day!
Temira
