Good morning sailors,
I really want to wake up one morning, look at the models, and see that elusive North Pacific High parked off the coast.
(gotta go for a second. The coffee water is hot.)
(ok. the french press is french pressing)
Instead, we're looking at yet another unseasonably strong front passing over the Northwest today. The cloud line stops just east of Mosier right now, but may move further east as the day goes on. Hard to say, really. At this point, I suggest a wait-and-see attitude. If everything holds up as planned, we'll see gusty 15-20 from Stevenson to HR, 22-25 at Doug's and Rowena (maybe better, depending...), and 24-28 out at Arlington and Maryhill. It's worth checking Mosier this afternoon if you're looking for strong winds. Sometimes Mosier's the unexpected sweet spot.
Tomorrow brings a light start as a weak trough sits along the coast. By afternoon, with thermal support, we'll see enough gradient for 19-23 in the Corridor. Sunday looks very similar to Saturday... light start, sailable/kiteable afternoon.
More imporantly (not really), today is First Friday in Hood River. This is your chance to check out work by dozens of local artists. It's also your chance to eat free snacks and drink free adult beverages while walking around Hood River. (I'm supposed to tell you not to take the drinks away from the stores where you acquire them, but that's really no fun)
(speaking of adult beverages, I have to go press the French press)
(now that I have my coffee in hand...)
So, that's it for windy talk today. I'm going to clean a big house now. My friend Olaf tells me I have to make $75 a day, and since I completely forgot to work at Abruzzo this week, well, I'd better go do some work.
Have a great day!
