Monday night guess for Tuesday

Hi Sailors,

Guess... it's always a guess, really. What isn't a guess is that clouds will move into the Gorge tonight, and move a long ways into the Gorge. I'll take a stab at it and say clouds will make it to Maryhill. NOAA is calling for rain possibly to The Dalles. Here's what I said on the radio:

That rain brings wind for windsurfers and kiters. A front crosses during the day, bringing winds in the 24-28 range in the eastern Gorge. Upper flow, influenced by a winter-like storm off Vancouver Island, is southerly. South flow doesn’t work well at Maryhill, but Avery, Celilo and Arlington should be sailable early, if a little gusty. Upper flow turns more westerly late as high pressure builds at the coast. Maryhill might end up working late for those of you working, well, late.

Tomorrow brings lackluster winds. Morning leftovers are 17-21, but winds die midday as high pressure fills in. An approaching front sends winds back into the 10-15 range late for Sailboat races.

Road biking gals, today is cruising  day. Join the Mountain View Cycles Moms’ ride – you don’t have to be a mom, just a gal – for a mellow 2 hour cruising bike ride. Meet at 4pm at the shop.

In my book, eating is recreation so here’s a special report: Cherries are ripe in Hood River and Mosier, peaches and apricots are ripe at Maryhill, blackberries and raspberries are ripe in Hood River and tomatoes are starting to ripen in local gardens.

Try not to eat too many cherries or you will be sick like I am. I just can't control myself around the delicious cherries.

=)

Have a great day sailing!
