Hi guys,
Not going to have time to make a guess in the morning, so here is the tentative radio forecast text for Saturday:
Good morning sports addicts!
If you want to see a spectacular show of kiteboarding, head to Stevenson for the Bridge of the Gods kiteboarding festival. Kiteboarders put on a spectacular show there every year, with huge airs and monstrous wake-style tricks. Go check it out!
Winds start in the 15-18 range from Stevenson eastward. As a front approaches and the desert warms, winds climb. Watch for midday winds in the 22-25 range in the corridor and afternoon winds in the 25-29 from Doug’s out to Maryhill.
It’s windsurfing blowout day: seventeen miles of downwind misery, starting in the light winds of Stevenson and finished with strong winds near Well’s Island. Try it if you dare!
Tomorrow looks stronger. We’ll start off with 22-26 dawn patrol. By afternoon, blow in the 28-32 range. We’re looking at a Doug’s nuker and a solid day at Maryhill and Arlington. It’s going to be chilly in town. Highs tomorrow will only be around seventy degrees. I believe that qualifies as July-uary.
(Addition: do not be surprised if the clouds push past Hood River on Saturday and Sunday. The front is going to stall at the coast, keeping us cloudy and cool. We may end up with somewhat southerly flow. There's a potential for this to screw up conditions at Maryhill. However, Arlington loves southerly flow. Watch the graphs out there on Sunday... http://www.windonthewater.com if you don't have iWindsurf)
Road bikers. Here’s a heads-up from a resident at the top of State Road in Mosier. I quote: “Be warned that there is 3/10 of a mile of gravel on The Dalles side of Seven Mile. Much of it is deep nasty gravel. I for one will be choosing other routes until it gets better.” I agree. Skip Seven mile until the construction is done. Same goes for you motorcyclists.
I’m going skiing today! Yippee! I'll even try for the daily double, but I'm not sure if I'll have enough time as I'm working tonight.
Have a great day, everyone!
