Sunday tastes good if it starts with Coffee

Hi all,

Just the radio cut-and-paste today, I'm afraid. Have fun on the water!

Good morning gorge sports nuts. With temperatures cooler than last weekend and winds blowing through the gorge funnel, it’s another perfect play day on the Columbia.

Today’s the first day of the Gorge Freestyle frenzy window. The local guys and gals are looking for nuclear winds, and they’re just not going to get it at the Hatch today.

But that doesn’t mean you won’t hit the water today. With tumultuous post-frontal clouds well past Hood River, we’re looking at a Doug’s/Avery/Maryhill day.  Kiteable winds started the day at Lyle, and things will improve as the hour hand rounds the clock and thermal assistance kicks in. By afternoon, we’ll see 22-26 from Mosier eastward. High pressure along the coast turns winds more westerly, setting up less gusty conditions than we saw last week. Sail at The Hatch or Doug’s for the best swell.

The start of the work week morning wakeboarding potential. The glassy reflecting pool won’t last long. As the desert heats and high pressure supports from the west, Winds pick up into the 18-22 range in the afternoon. Kiters will be loving it.

Looking for nuclear winds? Head to pistol. It’s going to be amazing with a 10 foot swell and 35+ knots. Don’t want to drive so far? The rest of the coast will be blasting as well. Don’t forget your small gear.

Whitewater people, the hOod’s at 4.69 feet – still good – the Whtie’s way down at 3.85 feet, and the Little white’s at 627 cfs.
