July 4th

Good morning sailors.

First, I have to talk to you guys about something. This is a FREE forecast. I have six or seven jobs, work way more than 40 hours a week, want to have a social life as well, and do this as a labor of love. I don't get enough sleep as it is, and some mornings there just won't be a forecast. In the last week, I've received five emails complaining about missed forecasts. C'mon you guys. Give me a break. If you absolutely need a forecast every single day, pay iWindsurf $200 a year (or 10% off if you're a new member and use iwindsurf.com/temira) and read theirs.

Thanks.

Now. Today is another one of those "complicated picture" days. Gradients are .05, .09 and .20 right now. That's points to Maryhill being the call, but the desert is still full of clouds. It's hard to tell where the marine deck ends and the thunderheads begin right now, but it looks like the line is east of Hood River. So, early session is at Doug's...

As the ULL crosses the state today and high pressure builds in AND a front passes, gradients will pick up. Hopefully they'll turn into surface winds, unlike yesterday. Frontal passages and ULL passages are particularly unpredictable. I'm going to be conservative and call Doug's-Arlington at 23-26 with gusty conditions.

It's First Friday in Hood River. That means good art, bad wine and marginal free snacks.

Tomorrow looks like a weak start with 18-22 in the late afternoon. Sunday looks better, as high pressure builds from the coast. 18-22 to start, 23-26 midday, 24-28 at Doug's late.

Tonight is the 4th of July, and you're probably not going to get a forecast tomorrow. Enjoy the windy holiday weekend!

Have a great day!

Temira
