I hate to do this but....

I'm going to copy the rec report text over here today. I'm so slammed with Windfest that I just don't have the 25-45 minutes it takes to write a good report. I'm sorry!

Good morning everybody! Just hold on for one more day, and you’ll be rewarded with cooler temperatures. This is going to be a tough one, though. Predicted highs in the Gorge are around 100 degrees today.

We’re going to suffer the heat without a cooling breeze unless mother nature feels generous this evening. It’s Windfest weekend after all, and that almost guarantees no wind. Fortunately, this year there are plenty of kayaks and standup paddle boards at the Event Site for these no wind days. It’s looking now like westerlies will pick up a bit around 5pm, as the heat low shifts east..

If we get really lucky, winds will pick up into the 22-26 range late in the evening. Thunderstorm potential makes things unpredictable, so cross your fingers. Remember that 100 degree wind has less power than 70 degree wind. Rig big or schlog today.

Winds blow all night tonight, so this is a dawn patrol warning for tomorrow. It won’t be ripping, but it should be 18-22 early.

If you’re looking for a mountain bike ride, fifteen mile is confirmed open and good. Road bikers, Lost Lake is the call. An unconfirmed report says that snowbanks line the road but inexplicably, the pavement is dry.

Wakeboarders have been absent from the river. Where are you guys?

Paddlers, you have 5.15 feet on the Hood, 4.85 on the White Salmon and 831cfs on the Little White.

Now, what you really want to hear is what wasn't on the radio. What's going to happen in the Gorge in the next few days. First, the coast. The coast is done for a while. Low pressure (damnit) off the coast will set up no wind or light southerlies. Good for surfers. Sucks for windsurfers and kiters.

In the Gorge, westerlies return this week. Tuesday will be 22-26ish, but Wednesday is looking better (of course, it's a long ways off). Sounds like temps will drop in Portland and onshore flow will increase.

Wait and see, of course. Anyway, it's 12:40am right now. I have to go to bed.

Have a great day!
