I hate it when I forget to post here too...

Not sure why I forget.

Anyway, here it is, 18 hours late.

Solstice party is tomorrow night at Arlington! Yippee!! Ok... maybe there's not a party, but there's going to be wind tomorrow, and that will be a nice respite from today's heat.

It's summer solstice. There's plenty of time for at least three sports today! We're looking at another still morning in the Gorge. Bikers are happy, but windsurfers and kiters make sad faces for one more day. For you non-sports people, Sunny skies, or at least mostly sunny skies, will put smiles on your still-white Junuary-kissed faces. Cathy Carter will probably pull out her ski boat today, despite the freezing water in the Columbia. If you see a boat screaming around with a beautiful, tall blonde at the wheel, hair flying in the wind, that's Cathy!

9 year old fishing phenom Gabe Cunningham has a suggestion for a hot sunny day like today: he wants to let you know that the Steelhead are running on the Hood River. According to Gabe, he water's clear and the fish are biting. Sounds good to me, except I'll be curled up on the bank with a good book and a bottle of … bug spray.

Whitewater rafting or kayaking is a good plan as well. Rivers are running strong, with the Hood at 1460cfs, the White Salmon at 4.53 feet and the Little White at 1660cfs.

Kiters and windsurfers, hang on for another 24 hours… well, maybe 36. If you've got a big kite or huge sail, you'll make it on the water in the Corridor this afternoon. The rest of us will be holding out for tomorrow afternoon and Sunday for Roosevelt ripping and McKradeys' macking swell. It looks like we're going to see 30+ out in the desert tomorrow afternoon. Upper level flow is going to be pretty southerly - maybe too southerly for The Wall - so you may want to find your long-driver carpool partner today.

Sunday brings lighter, but still sailable west winds. Pistol fans... it's going to be blowing down there (a bit) as well.
