Wind some lose some

Good morning sailors!

Ok, I admit it. I did the radio forecast when I got home from work last night. It was late, and I couldn't bear the thought of getting up at 5am to do the forecast. Serves me right that all the models were wrong and it's windy now.

I've been punished, though. In assuming it wouldn't be windy, I left my wetsuit in the washer. It's now tumbling around in the dryer, as the last thing I want to do is put on a freezing cold, dripping wet neoprene ultra-high-fashion bodysuit. On top of that, I dumped spoiled half-and-half into my coffee and ruined it. So, I get the point. I'll do the forecast in the morning. =)

Anyway... We're starting off the day with a .12 gradient and 23 at the Hatch. Models are looking like 22-25 today (now), so I'll stick with that. Tomorrow really does look lighter than today, but I suppose we'll have to wait until morning to know for sure.

Looks like winds will pick up again Tuesday, but that's a long way out to make a nuker call.

If you have a little extra time today, I suggest Post Canyon. It's in great shape.

And... look... we need to work out a compromise at the Hatchery between kiters and windsurfers. An unnamed kiter, on Thursday, tried to land his kite with the lines a foot from someone's head instead of leaving and coming back for a second pass. This kiter yelling, "Move your head!" was not a good way to deal with the crowded situation. The last thing we all want is someone getting hurt; we could all be banned from the Hatch if that happens. Since we're going to be sharing, I'm going to suggest that kiters go downwind of windsurfers (and I mean downwind of the cove) except when launching or landing. I suggest that kites do not land if someone is walking down the rocks to launch. I'm also going to suggest that windsurfers clear the jibeatorium and rocks when a kiteboarder is requesting a landing.

Ok. Enough ranting. I think my wetsuit is dry. =)

Have a great day!
