6.11 Temira Babbling Forecast

Good morning sailors!

I've had a couple of people giving me a hard time about not mentioning that I'm doing a rec report on the radio as of Monday. So, I'm outing myself before somebody does it for me. I'm doing a rec report on 105.5 and on, um, 97.7 (?) in the gorge. It's on the :56's at 105 and on the :35's at the other.

Anyway, here's the text of the report.

First thing is some bad news for mountain bikers desperate for dry trails. The landowners at Hospital Hill have requested that mountain bikers stay off the trail until the cows are all off the land. This could take a few days, so please respect their wishes and ride elsewhere until the weekend. Good news is that muddy local trails will start to dry out in today’s sunshine, giving us more options for riding.

Once again, though, today’s best sporting call is windsurfing or kiteboarding. We started off the day with a .13 gradient from Portland to the Dalles, .12 from Dalles to Pasco and dawn patrol from Doug’s to Arlington With the cloudline at Mosier best conditions will be from Doug’s to Arlington today, with windspeeds averaging 26-30. It won’t be thermonuclear like yesterday, but it’s still going to be really, really good..

Sailboat racers will have a great race tonight with strong winds and evening sunshine. It might even be warm enough to finally shed some of the foul weather gear!

Tomorrow brings lighter conditions, and that’s not such a bad thing if you’re as sore as I am. We’ll start off the day with potential wakeboarding conditions, but by midday we’ll see 15-18 in the Corridor. Afternoon brings 18-22.

Weekend gives Cathy and Dan a chance to throw their wakeboard boats in the river. We're going to have epic wakeboarding conditions for a few days. (see, everything about the Gorge is epic) Better than that, we're going to have epic tanning conditions. I'll be down at the Event Site or the New Beach (not the nude beach, damnit) working on my tan lines. That's making lines, not getting rid of them.

And just 'cause I like to say it... "From the Gorgeradio.com weather center, this is Temira telling you to have a great day!!!" The gorgeradio weather center, this morning, by the way, is the floor of my condo. I was trying to make it happen from Arlington, but couldn't pull it together. Missed out on having an awesome meal cooked for me by a good friend 'cuz of that.

Ok... too early. Have a great day on the water (I'm out for today... twisted foot from a tumble in the straps yesterday... waaaaaaaaaaah... get some for me!)

Temira
