6.8 Scary skies forecast

Good morning sailors!

I woke up this morning, looked out my window, and was afraid. The sky is wrong. It's blue. There's a burning ball rising from the horizon. I'm scared. Is the world ending?

This is a big change from yesterday, when clouds pushed all the way to Maryhill and 3.0 winds blasted the wall. Don't despair if you missed it, though. It's sailable right now at the Hatchery (I almost sent out a dawn patrol alert last night after realizing it was clear, freezing, and windy in town at 11pm, but I went to bed instead). With a solid cloud line all the way to the coast, I would normally expect strong winds. However, an upper level low off BC (darn Canadians) is affecting the overall picture. Instead, I'll call for 20ish until 11 or so, when the midday lull takes over. Afternoon brings another round of 18-22 in the corridor and out towards Rowena.

We're back to Junuary tomorrow, as a cold system moves through the area and snow falls on the ski resorts yet again. Models predict super-strong winds, but with rain and instability mixed in, I just don't think the sailing quality will be worthy of the high class people on this list. If you must sail tomorrow, have at it. If not, I recommend waiting for Tuesday.

After the Monday system passes, we'll be set up for a nuker on Tuesday. That's all I have to say about it now.

Have a fantastic day today! Enjoy the sunshine while it lasts!
