Hello sailors,
It's gloomy out there, and rain is headed our way. Don't despair. Once this front passes in a few hours, your day is going to get much better (or worse, if you can't leave the office). I know you don't believe me. There's zero wind right now. But you have to trust me. It's going to be a nuker in the desert this evening. Anywhere east of the cloud line (wherever that ends up when the front passes), will see 30+ westerlies. With the upper flow almost due west, all sites, including the notoriously finicky Wall, will be patiently awaiting your arrival bearing small gear as gifts. I'll pick a random time for this to start... how about 2:00 pm?
Tomorrow looks windy as well. With the weather tired after pounding us MMA-style all day today, and high pressure building along the coast, clouds won't get the kicked all the way to the desert. Instead, we should see (hopefully, because I don't want to sail Doug's) wind in the corridor. Look for 18-22 early, followed by 23-37 later. Perfect for sailboat racing. Just enough wind to give the spinnaker a mind of its own. Last time that happened, three out of four spinnakers chose to smash their boats to the water. Pancake style, you know.
With high pressure along the coast and a little front passing Wednesday night, Oregon and Washington deliver more wind on Thursday.
I'm so sick, despite twelve hours of sleep last night, that the thought of all this windsurfing makes me tired.
Don't forget to look for a carpool partner at the blog. There have been a few people posting. I'm thinking of just making a list somewhere of when's and where's and contact info.
Have a great day on the water!
