4/26 Pancake Forecast

Good morning sailors!

Blue skies and sunshine offer a brief respite today from winter weather in the Gorge. Enjoy it while you can, because clouds return tomorrow and snow levels drop below 2000 feet again next week.

If you are feeling community minded, there are a couple of fun opportunities today.

First, there is a planting party at the new Waterfront Park. The city of Hood River has provided this awesome new park for you; here's your chance to give back by helping plant trees and shrubbery. 9am is the advertised starting time, but I imagine this is an all-day project.

(Hah, I used "shrubbery" in the forecast)

Second, today is the annual Post Canyon cleanup party. Starting time is 9am at the lower parking area (I think it's the lower parking area... if nobody's there, head up to the Seven Streams trailhead).

Finally, today (despite the lack of wind) is opening day for the Hood River Yacht Club. Think pancakes, barbeque and costumes. There will be food-related activities (sorry, not for free, but all money goes to benefit the yacht club) all day long. Pancake breakfast ($5) starts at 9am.

Good luck being in all three places at once.

Sunday is the first swap meet of the season at Windance.

Oh, I almost forgot to mention: our best chance for windsurfing comes with the passage of a cold front on Monday afternoon. Frontally-driven wind tends to be short-lived and unpredictable, but I've got my fingers crossed. After all, with Meadows closed weekdays from now on, it's officially windsurfing season!

Have a great day, and enjoy the sunshine!
