Good morning windsurfers!
Kudos to the four sailors at The Wall (decent swell), one hardy person at Rowena (Doug's looked good), three people at Arlington (no swell there) and to Laura (hey, and to me too) for catching some great wind yesterday! Laura had the swim of the day: a good 15 minutes in 46 degree water. Nice work ending up right back at the launch.
Laura and I had a chance to sail the '09 Hot Sails Fire 3.5, and quite frankly, it rips. Two thumbs up. Yes, shameless sponsor promotion here. If you'd like to try the sail, just ask.
So now you know how windy it was yesterday (Laura sailed her 2.8 at Rufus for a bit before being nuked off the water), but you're probably more interested in the future.
Today and tomorrow look like 17-21 kind of days.
From today's perspective, Friday looks like a nuker out in the desert. We're talking 3.2+ conditions all the way out to Threemile. This is, of course, a frontally-driven wind event, meaning you'll have about 4 hours of good sailing/kiting/etc.
Saturday... well, I'll let NOAA tell you about Saturday. I particularly especially like their use of the double adverb "extremely abnormally." I hope you guys like to ski... in town... in April...
THE REALLY
COLD AIR AND MORE DYNAMIC PART OF THE UPPER TROUGH DIGS SOUTH AND
SPREADS OVER OUR AREA FRIDAY NIGHT AND SATURDAY... A SPECIAL WEATHER
STATEMENT WAS ISSUED FOR THIS WEATHER SYSTEM. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY
ABNORMALLY COLD SYSTEM FOR MID APRIL WITH MODELS SHOWING THICKNESSES
AND 850 MB TEMPS MORE IN LINE WITH THE LOW ELEVATION SNOW EVENTS WE
SAW BACK IN JANUARY AND EARLY FEBRUARY...NOT TO MENTION THIS PAST
SPRING BREAK. WILLSON
Thanks for that, NOAA.
I'm ready for more skiing. It's cold out on the water still.
Have a great day!
