Good morning sailors!
I hope those of you in the Gorge escaped your warm houses and seductive televisions yesterday evening for a few minutes to enjoy the snow. Fat, floaty flakes fell for hours in Hood River, turning our barren, leafless trees into snow sculptures. Once again, I spent the evening in the hot tub with a good friend. While we soaked, the snowstorm faded, leaving us watching dwindling flakes mixed with miniature sleet.
As the snowy frontal system passed, winds turned westerly and temperatures climbed. Arlington is a balmy 43 degrees with winds in the upper twenties right now. As always this time of year, winds will most likely be shortlived (especially with another rainstorm headed our way). So, if you want to sail the westerlies, go now.
Tomorrow's wind looks weak, but Thursday brings another shot of strong west winds.
I'm working both today and Thursday, so Jim and D.B. will have to sail without me...
And now... I have to go rescue my car. I abandoned it on the Heights last night after witnessing the chaos on unplowed, unsanded 13th street. It took chains to get up Serpentine, and seemed easier, faster, and safer to get a ride back down.
Have a great day today!
Temira
