Tuesday Brrrrrrrrr Forecast

Good morning sailors!

Snow still dusts Strawberry mountain, clouds still blanket the Corridor, and gradients still read west at seven a.m. As high pressure builds today, though, things will change. As evening approaches (what time is evening now... 2pm?) northerly flow clears the clouds, and gradients reverse.

By tomorrow, we'll see east winds in the Gorge. Come Turkey day, we'll see a (frigid, freezing) nuker at Stevenson and Rooster. With overnight temperatures in the upper twenties, only the foolhardy will be on the river. Laura and Dave Brown will be there, as will all the mustachioed Stevenson locals. It seems like every time I sail a super-nuker in the middle of winter, 80% (or more) of the people at the people at Bob's beach are men with mustaches. Why is that?

The east wind setup will more than likely fall apart Friday... but that's a long ways out to make the call.

Cross your fingers that those of us in the gorge get sunshine, not inversion, the next few days. Otherwise, we'll all be heading to The Dalles for morning coffee and sun (Ben... you up for coffee in The Dalles when the inversion gets intolerable?)

Have a great day. I'm working all day long. Good day for it.

Temira

p.s. If you live in Hood River and are looking for something to do on T-day (other than windsurf), drop me a note. We have a large, stragglers' (almost forgot the apostrophe and comma, which would have changed the meaning completely!) Turkey party.
