C-O-L-D Weekend Forecast

Good Morning Sailors,

Apologies! I forgot to mention that there would be no forecast yesterday. 7:00 physical therapy appointment in Portland = no forecast. Now if I only had one of those cool Blackberry or iPhones, I could have done the forecast and PT at the same time... (note the sarcasm)

Laura, Barb, Jim Oaks and I missed you guys at Stevenson the other day. Only 5 or 6 of us caught the 40mph east wind 2.8 (for me, 2.5 for Laura) session. For easterlies, it was EPIC! Good swell, lots of jumps, and not too cold, despite the 43 degree reading on the thermometer.

This weekend presents a Gorge showing of the movie "Inconsistent Wind". With a frontal boundary (aka baroclinic zone) over western Oregon, we'll see cloudy skies and periods of rain. We may see a bit of wind tomorrow morning as the front makes a run for the state line, only to be stopped by furious Minutemen protecting Oregon's borders. With the front stalled once again, our best shot at wind is the Sunday evening approach of a pool of cold air. Snow levels plummet. Good for skiers, bad for warm-blooded animals like Humans and Neanderthals.

Without a significant low pressure system off the coast, Seattle and the coastal waters get nothing significant this weekend.

Speaking of Seattle, has anyone on this list been sailing/kiting southerlies up there this winter? I'm curious how the sailing has been.

Have a great day!

Temira
