Saturday Forecast

Good morning sailors!

Looks like the best of the wind made its way through the Gorge overnight. Look to the east - that's the tail edge of the front, and our best chance for sailable winds, leaving us in the dust (or sunshine, as the case may be). So, if you want to kite or sail big gear, head to the river now.

Tomorrow looks uninteresting on the weather front. Most likely we'll see a bit of cloudiness in the Gorge as another weak front gives Oregon a glancing blow.

The excitement increases on Monday as a 960mb low pressure system rotates its way north towards the hapless souls on Vancouver Island. This system brings drenching rain and light east winds to the Gorge. Coastal waters see storm conditions, with winds gusting over 40 knots. I hear there's a group heading out for some GPS-tracked speed sailing near the mouth of the Columbia River.

Seattle sailors, get ready! With this huge low off the coast, you'll see decent southerly winds (remember, winds to the east of a low pressure system blow from the south). MM5 suggests 25+ for the Sound and Lake Washington (and that includes Useless Bay... what a name!)

I'm off to enjoy the sun! Have a great day!
