Weekend Forecast

Good morning sailors!

Oh what beautiful fog! Oh what beautiful rain!

Oh, by the way, it's sunny east of Hood River, and we're stuck (in the words of Jen Wilson) in the Muck. Muck is defined as low clouds draped over the hills, clouds that keep us from basking in sun like The Dalles. Muck is cold temperatures in Hood River when Portland receives a bit of warmth. Muck is the fog-filled inversion. Muck is yuck.

Speaking of Jen Wilson, if you get desperate for exercise this winter, try out her spinning classes. I never thought I'd give props to sweating away on a bike in a room full of strangers, but Jen makes it fun. Interesting Jen Wilson fact: she has the best W.I.N.D.A.R. (that's like radar or gaydar) I've ever seen. She windsurfed exactly one day this year, epic Thursday, when the Corridor dished up perfect 3.2 and huge swells until dark.

Anyway... A weak front passed through the Gorge overnight, dragging in low clouds and dropping a bit of rain. The tail end of the front is east of The Dalles now, so we've seen our rain and chance of wind for today. If we're lucky, the muck will burn away (it's flammable, you know), leaving us under blue skies. If not, well, the weather provides more dynamics tomorrow.

As a stronger front moves though the Gorge Saturday, west winds increase. We could see anything from 20 to 30 (I know, I know, that doesn't help much) from The Dalles eastward. Upper level flow will be westerly, setting up The Wall as the best bet. No guarantees on wind consistency. Gusty, gusty, gusty... But hey, it's November, and any west wind is a gift from the wind gods!

As an upper level low develops west of us on Sunday, winds slacken. Even NOAA's having trouble with their models, so I'll stick with no wind on Sunday. Should be a good day for mountain biking...

Have a great weekend!
