Thursday Wind Alert

Good morning sailors!

As a front approaches this afternoon, clouds will increase in the Gorge. In the meantime, we've escaped the worst of the inversion fog. Sunshine is already casting shadows downtown; enjoy it today!

Tomorrow's weak frontal system may not pack enough punch to send rain to the Gorge, but its passage will bring a bit of wind. It's hard to predict exactly how much (and how gusty!), but it's worth putting some mid-size gear in the car if you're desperate to sail. I have to go to Portland, unfortunately, but you might be able to get on the water.

Saturday brings the passage of another, stronger front. Rain will most likely fall from the sky (as opposed to falling up from the ground) and gusts and lulls will dominate the wind. Temperatures drop behind this front, making for a chilly Saturday night.

As low pressure shifts to Eastern Oregon Saturday night/Sunday morning, west winds may pick up for a bit, again.

"Gusty" will be the operative word here. With water temps falling into the 50's, make sure to wear a warm enough wetsuit in case you end up swimming! Coastal waters really are warmer now...

Have a great day today!

Temira
