Election Day Forecast

Good morning sailors!

I try my very best to keep my politics from showing through on this list, however, today is election day. I am asking you to vote. It doesn't matter to me which way you vote. Just vote. Do your duty as a citizen. Show that you care about your right to vote. If you live in Oregon, you must drop off your ballot (election day postmarks do not count). If you live in Washington, you can mail your ballot today. If you live in Chicago, vote early and vote often.

End of lecture.

Here's your party suggestion for this week: Hood River's biggest annual party, the Fashion Show, is this Thursday! Over 500 people attended last year (yes, that's HUGE). This is a charity event; your $15 ticket benefits the Hood River County Christmas project, which gives winter and Christmas/Hanukah/Kwanza/Solstice (my words) assistance to low income families. Presale tix are available all over town, or you can get standing room tix at the door.

If you're not into fashion, that's ok, because Area 54 throws the best dance party of the year afterwards. Guys, there is a 5-1 guy-to-gal ratio at this party, and everyone is dressed in their best. Put the dirty jeans away, throw on some hair product (I love hair product!) and show up to find your winter lover (or maybe the love of your life). Last year Ben and Julia took the award for hottest couple (no, there isn't really an award, but they looked HOT). Maybe it will be you this year!

Oh. You wanted a wind forecast? Ok. Light east winds this morning switch to light west this afternoon ahead of a weak cold front. The front is already getting close - you can tell by the high clouds overhead. However, I don't think we're looking at sailable winds.

Best chance of windsurfing looks to be gale-force south winds on the coast Thursday, as a strong low pressure system spins off the coast of Vancouver Island (where Brad Drummond will be ripping it up!).

Oh the other hand, Post Canyon is perfect right now (and I don't use that word lightly), so go for a run or a bike. Just don't come blasting over jumps around blind corners on your way down, or Ben will kick your butt!

Have a great day everyone!
