Tuesday Wind Report

Good morning sailors!

Yesterday's front left Gorge sailors high and dry, as the strongest winds blew through the Gorge under cover of darkness, between 8pm and 2am.

It looks like we'll be luckier today. With stronger gradients forecast, and timing looking more favorable, eastern Gorge winds should power windsurfers today. We're postfrontal now, with blue skies and easterly gradients. As noon nears, the wind switches directions, climbing into the low twenties in the central Gorge and the mid twenties in the eastern Gorge.

Tomorrow looks stronger, but wetter.

Thursday looks quite wet, but brings nuclear potential at Arlington. I'll be asking for the night off when I head to the restaurant this evening. I've attached the mm5 model picture for Thursday. Those of you familiar with the model are now sitting here in shock, with your mouths hanging open. Those of you not, well, let's just say that's the windiest model prediction I've ever seen for the eastern Gorge. There's no way to know now if the prediction will hold, but I'd suggest clearing Thursday afternoon just in case. Wind quality, unfortunately, won't be great, with rain and gusts and general madness going on. But hey, it's October, and we can't complain!

Okay... it's off to work for me. Enjoy the sun this morning (it's the last we'll see for a week or so) and get out on the water this afternoon if you have time!

Have a great day!
