Good Morning Sailors,
I'm not sure why you're staring at your computer right now. It's beautiful outside!
With flat gradients and sunshine in the Gorge today, it's the perfect day for a road bike ride. Temperatures should make the low 60's, allowing the hardiest of us to ride in t-shirts and shorts (not me - cold weather kills me!)
As a ridge of high pressure shifts to the east late today and overnight, east winds pick up in Stevenson and at Rooster. Strongest winds will be overnight, but we may see some sailable conditions early tomorrow morning. Gradients will pancake in the afternoon, leaving perfect wakeboarding conditions in the central Gorge.
Monday sees the approach of a weak frontal system. Gradients turn westerly ahead of the front, but wind strengths are questionable at this point. For now, I'll say 22-26 at Doug's/Rowena, but it's a guessing game this far out.
I keep forgetting to mention this: Bob Riviello (541-806-7267) has three 71 liter Sean Ordonez boards available. I've sailed these boards, and they are absolutely incredible for the Gorge. They're fast, jump high, stick to the water when it's super windy, and turn on a dime. Sean, the shaper, claims they're excellent wave boards (and I trust his opinion), but they may just be the best high-wind Gorge board I've ever ridden (with the possible exception of the legendary Drops 125, also shaped by Sean).
Alrighty... you guys have a great day playing today! I'm headed somewhere for a bike ride before I head to Abruzzo (pear-almond tart, apple-pear crisp, hazelnut gelato are the yummy desserts, if you were wondering).
Temira
