Good Morning Sailors!
Welcome to another cloudy, made-for-mountain-biking day here in the Gorge! I shredded Hospital Hill yesterday, where the trails are in perfect condition. Reports from Post Canyon say the same: gummy bears parading down trails made sticky, but not muddy, by the week's rain.
As for wind, well, the picture is gloomy today and tomorrow. A massive storm off the Oregon Coast (962 millibar) sends clouds overhead and turns Gorge gradients slightly offshore. Coastal sites may see stronger east winds. Worth mentioning is the potential for 50-knot-plus south winds along the coast, if the storm moves a little closer to shore (the center of the storm is predicted to remain a couple hundred miles offshore). With associated swell in the 16 foot range (at ten seconds, scary!), some crazy cats will be hitting the coast for port tack madness tomorrow and Wednesday. I, choosing not to drown, will abstain, unless convinced by someone crazier than myself that this is a good idea.
Here in the Gorge... our best chance for wind is Wednesday midday at Arlington, but this is a short-lived, hit-and-miss scenario (there I go, mixing my metaphors again!)
You kids have a great day today!
