Good morning sailors!
Well, all the models are wrong this morning, which leaves predicting the wind a matter of gut instinct. With a .06 surprise gradient and clouds in Portland, we're looking at just enough wind to ruffle the feathers on the forecasters. High pressure is predicted to build over us and Portland today, shutting down the wind (models show east this afternoon and nothing this morning). A heat low in Southern Oregon is predicted to turn flow northerly. Given this, I'll say we'll see gusty (stay away from Rowena/Doug's with this Northerly flow) wind in the west, 15ish range. Probably just enough to get the sailboats moving during the races tonight!
Tomorrow looks fun. The heat low shifts east, and clouds sneak in from the coastal waters. Portland remains buried all day, and even HR may see some morning clouds. Best winds shift east as a cold front approaches. Look for 23-27 at The Wall and Arlington. Unfortunately for me, I'm going to the Paul Van Dyk show at the Crystal Ballroom (anyone want to carpool?) tomorrow night, and working all day, so windsurfing isn't really in my picture.
Friday looks cool and cloudy, as shower clouds behind the front park over Oregon. Although patches of sailable wind will be available for treasure seekers to find, mountain biking is probably your best bet. With significant rainfall predicted for Thursday night, trails should be in great shape Friday morning.
Saturday and Sunday look like a continued mix of fast-moving fronts, low snow levels, and patchy wind.
I wonder what the wind and waves are doing in Denmark?
Have a great day today!
