Good Morning Wind Weapons!
From my window, I can only see a little smoke coming from Underwood mountain. That's good news. Even better is that Gorge winds will be very light today, aiding firefighters in putting out the remainder of the blaze. Come afternoon, a light west breeze will cool the sweating firemen, but it shouldn't be enough to fan the flames.
Over the next two days, a series of fronts and lows will cross the Gorge. This makes for short-lived windsurfing. Tomorrow, as the desert warms and cold air pushes into Portland, watch for afternoon corridor winds to climb into the upper twenties. If everything happens just right (usually everything happens "just right" after dark), a nuker is possible. This will be late, and most likely short-lived (a few hours). If the cold air pushes past Hood River, best wind will shift to Doug's/Rowena. This nice sesh will happen without me, as I'll be tossing salads and dishing up deserts at Abruzzo. (Thought to self: get as much prep done tonight as possible)
Sunday morning sun shines on clouds remaining from the passage of the front. As clouds break in Portland, and no front appears to bump up windspeeds, breezes max out in the 18-21 range in the afternoon.
One last thing: I am wondering how late into the season you'd like to receive these daily missives in your inbox. Please let me know here:
