Thursday Forecast

Good Morning Sailors!

After a well deserved rest yesterday, both I and the west winds are back today!

Despite dismaying visual clues this morning, I'll say you'll be sailing this afternoon. Right now, the Hatchcam shows glass and weed patches, but the pressure gradient tells a different story: .07 between Portland and The Dalles. Marine clouds made themselves known in Hood River this morning, suggesting Doug's will be better than the Corridor when the wind picks up to sailable range. I'm not calling for anything epic: we're looking at 21-24; this time of year we're lacking thermal support, making winds in the "strong" range more dependent on frontal support. All we have today is a weak front passing late this afternoon. Ahead of the front, winds may bump into the 22-26 range for a while.

Friday starts the day glassy, but with the support of another weak front approaching Portland in the afternoon, winds pick up into the 21-24 range late in the day once again.

Saturday looks like the strongest day of the three, as Portland receives drizzle and the Gorge receives sun. Afternoon windspeeds climb to the 22-26 range.

Thanks for the day off yesterday. I needed the time to say goodbye to a certain Danish windsurfer.  =)

Have a great time on the water this afternoon!
