Midweek wind forecast

It's not quite so cold here this morning; my fingers still have blood flow for forming this forecast.

It's a beautiful day for wakeboarding in the Gorge! Chances of wind ruining the glass at any point today are minimal, so sign up for a shift on a ski boat! Although power boats are noisy, polluting, and not nearly as picturesque as windsurfing (especially if you ride Hot Sails Superfreaks) or kiteboarding, they can still be a lot of fun!

High pressure spread across Oregon and Washington overnight, leveling gradients, like a building being instantaneously demolished. Joining the high pressure is a hot pool of air from California (yes, they don't just buy up property in HR and electricity from the Columbia - those Cali folks send us their superheated air as well!). With temps equal across the Cascades today, winds won't make it out of the dog house. However, it's a great day for hiking. Don't forget your ten essentials (map, compass, flashlight, extra food, extra clothes, pocket knife, waterproof matches, firestarter, first aid kit, sunglasses) or you might end up with ESAR after you.

Tomorrow brings a similar setup, but carries a slight possibility of early morning east winds. If you're aiming for easterlies, go first thing (well, second after coffee and cookies). Hood River looks favored to win the heating race, setting up light westerlies in the evening (that means any east winds will fade quickly).

Thursday looks "hot, da*n hot," as Cali's Death Valley air drives Hood River close to 100 degree insanity. With Portland struggling for 85-90, we'll see 15-20 or better.

Things are shaping up for the weekend, and some sort of strange party at Broughton Beach (aka Rich Beach/'Tween Beach/Advil Factory). I'll let you know more details as soon as I have confirmed the forecast and the fun.

Pistol River blew 3.7-4.2 again yesterday. I'm tired.

Have a great day today! I'll see you guys on Thursday!
