It's another beautiful day for playing in the Gorge. I checked out Post Canyon yesterday, and conditions are epic for mountain biking. Sticky Seven Streams trail will make you feel like a champ, as tacky dirt holds tires to steep hills. "Head to the woods today," I say!
Or... you could work all day and hold out for the light thermal winds we'll see this evening. With Portland cloudy and desert towns getting a jump start on heating, west winds will make a brief appearance this evening. Don't expect grandeur; if winds hit 20 we'll be very, very lucky.
Tomorrow looks like a beautiful summer day. Humidity drops from today's values, and sun fills the Gorge. Winds don't look strong: 17-20 at best, but I'll keep my fingers crossed for beneficial changes.
Thursday could be problematic, as upper level flow may switch to offshore. Other models, though, show an approaching trough. Low pressure troughs send clouds into Portland, setting up good thermals. We're going to have to wait a day and see.
If you must sail, head to Pistol River for the week, as it's going to get windy (very windy) and stay windy (very windy)
Okay. It's time for me to go to work.
