Epic Arlington Wind Forecast

My excuse for missing 30+ yesterday and calling 23-27? Darn NOAA... they said clouds would burn off in Portland. Instead, they increased, giving us a 3.2 nuker at the Doug's/Rowena stretch. I've never see such good swell above Doug's West! NOAA predicted today would be a carbon copy of yesterday, but I think today is going to be even better (location-wise, that is). NOAA's 3am forecaster seems to have been sleeping on the job, putting out a few lines of uninformative copy, leaving me to guess what the weather will do for the next three days, based on graphical models. Today, though, requires nothing more than looking out the window.

Look outside at the gorgeous, gray marine cover. We're actually sitting right under a combination of marine layer and clouds from a passing front. Hood River winds hibernate today, getting some well deserved sleep under a gray, fluffy cloud-filled comforter. Fine by me. I'm going to Arlington after I do a bit of work. You too should follow the advice below:

Go east, life is windy there.
Go east, lots of moving air.
Go east to sail anew.
Go east, this is what we'll do.
Go east, sun in cloudy time.
Go east, 3.7 does just fine.
Go east where the skies are blue .
Go east, this and more we'll do.

With gradients already at .13, .05, and .24, it won't be long before we see another nuker of a day. Clouds are stacked west of Doug's, making Chop City the windiest spot again. If you're environmentally conscious, head to Doug's/Rowena/Club Shred (that's Murdoch, where the conditions are good and the local sailors are protective). Winds peg the 30 mark by afternoon, as Portland temps lag in the 60's and the desert strives for 90. Upper flow is WSW, good for The Wall (Johnny and Margaret are there already!), where it's 4.5 now, with blue skies and little fluffy clouds to the west.

Just get in your car and drive. Plant some trees later to make up for the carbon emissions. It's going to go off at Arlington, Roosevelt, Threemile, The Wall, and maybe even Blaylock and Philippi canyon. Watch for blowing dust, small animals, tumbleweeds and overturned semi-trucks. Make sure to take plenty of food and water, as well as fresh-baked cookies.

Save some (cookies and energy) for tomorrow, as winds hit the mid to upper twenties, as another, stronger front passes. I might just upgrade that...

Wind continues Thursday.

Wind continues Friday.

Models, and NOAA, can't figure out the weekend yet, so neither can I.

I really must go get a little work done before drive time.

Have an absolutely amazing day on the water.
