This morning, as predicted, the Corridor is dishing up epic wakeboarding conditions. Look for perfect glass and stunning views as you buzz around the Columbia in your ski boat!
Models present a mixed picture today, which isn't really a problem as gradients just won't support windsurfing speed winds. MM5 says light east winds all day and NOAA says light westerlies by evening. With Portland heading for 90-95 and the desert heading for 93-98, and a .01 west gradient to start the day, I'm going with light west winds by evening. Don't get too excited, though. I'm talking about 10-12mph, just enough to get the sailboat racers on the water. (5:30 at the docks, if you want to try and get on a boat)
Thursday morning brings another epic wakeboarding session. The glassy reflecting pool provides beautiful scenery most of the day. If you don't want to jinx the possibility of evening winds, don't ask the river mirror, "Who's the prettiest one of all?" We've got a timing issue tomorrow. (but hey, we all have issues, right?) If, and I say if, an expected marine push happens early enough, evening winds will go from nothing to 19-22 in about an hour. If the push waits 'til we're tucked in bed, winds will blow all night.
I'll be up looking for dawn patrol Friday morning, as clouds dog-pile the metro area and desert sands retain heat overnight. Portland claws for the 75 degree mark, and Arlington easily makes 95. I probably don't have to tell you what that means, but I will anyway. Wind, lots of wind. Look for 22-26 to start the day with a quick climb into the high twenties/low thirties. Depending on marine penetration, winds might just make it out to The Wall, where you can pick up windfall peaches for twenty cents a pound (if you can drag yourself off the water).
Okay. That's it for now. I must work.
Have a great day today! I've decided that once again it's, "do something nice for somebody else day." Buy a stranger's coffee or pay somebody's bridge toll today, if you have the chance!
